Q Receptionist
Sign in

The trades have always been last to get good software and technology. Not this time.

A missed call is a job you didn’t get.

The work is still out there. Someone else answered the phone.

Q answers instead — takes the details and emails you the lead, day or night.

No setup fee. Cancel anytime.

How it works

How it works

  1. Keep your number. Nothing changes for your customers.

  2. Forward it with a code we give you. Takes a minute.

  3. Q answers, and emails you who called and what they want.

Answer every call, or only the ones you miss. Your choice.

What you get

  • Live in minutes

Your number is working the same day you sign up.

  • 24/7/365

A call at 7pm Saturday gets answered the same as 10am Tuesday. Holidays too.

  • You teach it

Start with the basics, add as you go.

What a call sounds like

Example call urgent

Q
Hi, thanks for calling. This is your AI receptionist, and this call may be recorded — who am I speaking with?
Caller
Hey, it’s Mark.
Caller
I’ve got water coming out from under my kitchen sink. It’s pretty bad, I’ve got towels down.
Q
Got it, Mark — a leak under the kitchen sink. Have you been able to shut the water off?
Caller
There’s a valve under there, I turned it and it slowed down.
Q
Good, that’ll hold for now. What town are you in?
Caller
Stamford.
Q
And when were you hoping to get someone out?
Caller
Today if possible.
Q
Great, the team will be in touch shortly. Have a great day.

Your rules

What you control

Q doesn’t quote jobs or book your calendar. You keep control of both. What it does do is answer the questions callers always ask — roughly what you charge, what you do, what areas you cover — because you tell it. You write that in your settings, and Q sticks to it. If a caller asks something you haven’t covered, Q says it’ll have you confirm on the callback, rather than making something up.

Anything callers commonly ask, you can teach it — your prices, your service area, your hours, whatever comes up. You edit it in your dashboard and it takes effect on the next call.

Built for contractors first — but it works the same for mobile services, salons, shops, and anyone whose phone rings while their hands are full.

The founder

Who built this

I’m John Shea, and I built Q Receptionist myself.

I work in the trades. On a job site the phone rings when your hands are full, and there’s often nobody free to get it — so it rings out, and the caller moves on to the next name on their list. That call was work, and it’s gone.

So I built the thing I wanted to exist. Every call answered, the details captured properly, in your inbox before you’ve climbed down.

I’d rather be plain about how this works: the person who wrote the code is the person who answers your email or phone. If something’s wrong, I fix it. You won’t be handed to a support queue, because there isn’t one.

The trades have been last in line for good software and technology for a long time. This was built for them first — by someone in them — not adapted down from something else. And because the person who wrote the code answers the phone, you get something no competitor can sell you: say the agent should ask something different and it gets changed, quickly, by the person who built it. Not a ticket. Not a roadmap.
